If Douglas Wolk’s recent “First Days of Disco” feature left you lusting after rare groove records, Egon’s always dependable Now-Again imprint has at least one largely overlooked single on deck. Pressed as part of a new 7-inch series — four “Sure Shots” limited to 500 copies a piece — “Watchin’ Out” has sold for as much as $475.66 on Discogs, all thanks to a flawless dancefloor detonator that was cut in the same city that would produce Slipknot decades later. Yep, this is disco the Des Moines, Iowa, way, and it’s the first taste of a previously unreleased LP that will arrive on Now-Again next year.
