Southern Comfort, “Suzanne”

“Suzanne” is the kind of summertime song you write when you’ve stayed out to long and gotten heat stroke. Songs like this — with dreamy vocals and chugging guitars — are supposed to sprint forward, but “Suzanne,” fantastically, wilts and weaves. The product of Australians Angie Bermuda (also of the great Ruined Fortune, among other things) and Harriet Hudson, “Suzanne” feels eerie and delirious, a big beaming smile of a song with glazed-over eyes and an unsteady stance.
