“The teenage heart is an unguided thought/ We’re trying hard to make something of what we are,” Bridie Monds-Watson sings at the start of “B a noBody.” The 18-year-old singer, who performs as SOAK, gives off serious Lorde vibes in her earnest reminder that you don’t have to feel so alone when everybody’s a nobody. Monds-Watson’s innocent high-pitched vocals are disarming, especially when she sings lines like “I watched, I saw/ your mind fall out of your head.” The song starts with simple guitars and keyboard plinks, building up to choral “ooohs” and a full band. The Irish singer just signed with Rough Trade, and it’ll be exciting to see what’s next.
