Longtime Yura Yura Teikoku frontman Shintaro Sakamoto continues to find his footing as a solo artist with Let’s Dance Raw, his second album on the left-field label of New York’s best record shop, Other Music. Like 2012′s How to Live With a Phantom LP, Sakamoto’s new single is lounge pop with a lingering sense that something’s not quite right. Streamed alongside its ominous record sleeve, it’s easy to imagine Sakamoto leading hell’s skeletal house band in a yacht rock set that starts off innocently enough, yet takes a turn for a worse when you realize his breezy hooks translate to tales of our own impending doom.
