Until now, Aussie label R.I.P. Society has been known mostly for messy, noisy punk and post-punk. The second album from Rat Columns changes that. Nested in a bed of glimmering guitars and propelled by the same breathy vocal melody that characterizes songs by the Field Mice and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, “Another Day” is a bright, freewheeling pop number that glides effortlessly forward, full of light and warmth.
