The cassette containing this bright and ragged bit of power pop from New York’s pow wow! was released into the world two years ago, apparently. But pop hooks don’t have expiration dates, fortunately, and “Don’t Stop To Look” sounds just as brash and vital as it must have way back in ’12. The bounding guitars and steady-chugging melody could be the War on Drugs (or, let’s face it, Dire Straits) as recorded on an old boom box, and the twinkle of keys makes the song feel bright and beatific. And when it careens into the chorus, the momentum rockets skyward — a big pleading love ballad powered by determination and raw nerve.
