“You always run to someone/ No one you ever trusted/ You always look for someone lost,” Peter Matthew Bauer sings at the start of “You Always Look For Someone Lost.” The song seems to be about trying to rekindle a relationship with someone who’s become emotionally unavailable, as the Walkmen bassist wonders, “When will I see you again?” Bauer’s voice starts out sounding worn, which turns to hopeful with an ethereal choir behind him as the background builds from acoustic guitar to jangly, majestic Grizzly Bear-channeling pop. The track was recorded as part of Weathervane Music’s “Shaking Through” series, and you can watch a making-of here.
