Philadelphia band Nothing exist in the hazy interzone between metal and indie rock. Their excellent debut album, on Relapse Records, paired roaring, shoegaze guitars with tender, whispery vocals and in our interview with them, frontman Dominic Palermo copped to a deep and abiding love for My Bloody Valentine. They underscore that point on this beautiful, shivery cover of Low’s “In Metal.” Here, the roaring chords have dissipated — in their place are guitars that are cold as icicles and just as rigid. Palermo’s voice is barely present — it’s just a fading ghost, murmuring in the shadows.
