“It’s always the right time to do the wrong thing,” declares Nikki Lane in the opening moments of this barn-burning number from her just-released, Dan Auerbach-produced album All or Nothin’. The sentiment is a vague echo of Hurray for the Riff Raff’s “I Know It’s Wrong (But That’s Alright),” but where Hurray’s song promises fidelity, Lane’s is a vow of infidelity. Over smoldering guitars and wailing pedal steel, Lane rollicks through a story of bad choices proudly chosen, and its scorching Southern bar band instrumentation mirrors the sense of abandon in the lyrics.
