A collaboration for Addidas’s “Songs from Scratch” series, the pairing of Kelela and Chicago vocalist Tink with DJ Dahi, the California producer who’s worked with Drake and Kendrick Lamar, has resulted in a song that’s admirably minimal. The beats register as little more than tiny radar blips — microscopic metronomic clicks that serve mainly to move the song slowly along. This leaves plenty of wide open space for Kelela and Tink to fill in with gently-gliding vocals. That the song was written in a day — in keeping with the parameters of the series — might account for some of its sparseness. But by paring down the song to its essentials, the trio have actually made it more evocative. It feels hushed and mysterious, promises whispered at a club in the closing hours.
