It is perhaps only fitting that a band called The Gotobeds — named for Wire drummer Robert Gotobed — should end up on a label called 12XU, named for a Wire song. The roaring Poor People Are Revolting manages all of the snarl and spite of their inspiration, but pair it with garage rock muscle and rage. The guitars on “Affection” (which opens with a warped sample of Roxy Music’s “In Every Dream Home a Heartache”) are jagged but rigid, like blades on a rotary saw, and vocalist Eli Kasan delivers the song’s title in a sharp, forceful howl, making it sound like a rallying song for a nihilist football team.
