You’ve probably never wondered how Tom Petty’s “Into the Great Wide Open” would sound remade as a dream-pop song, but Elephant Stone, a Montreal psych-rock band, have reimagined it for you that way nonetheless. This is a fairly straight, faithful cover—that bassline is unmistakable—but the pretty shimmer of the synths and the wistful croon of Rishi Dhir’s vocals take the song somewhere lighter, more of a daydream than the original’s grim fable.
