If you ask Crater what their main influences are, the Seattle duo will bring up the grunge bands they cranked as kids. An understandable assertion considering where they come from, but the stamp bands like Nirvana left on Crater more of a spiritual than sonic one. So while “Ain’t Right” has a few clanging guitar chords lurking just beneath its surface, the track is essentially an electro-pop tune that plays hard to get with the chorus “I’m not who you should want/ I’m gonna beg you not to love me.” How very Gen X of them.
