Record Store Day is whirling toward us at roughly 560,000 rotations-per-minute, which means the announcements of special projects and exclusives are starting to stack up. We’ve already heard about the split LP from Merchandise, Milk Music and Destruction Unit, a new single from Veruca Salt (?!), a whole host of great records from Captured Tracks and an R.E.M. Box Set this writer will not live with himself if he doesn’t manage to score. Now today comes the announcement of something a little more offbeat — a limited-edition record from Father/Daughter on which acts like Potty Mouth, Radiator Hospital and Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz cover songs by fictional bands including Josie & the Pussycats, the Muppets’ Dr. Teeth and Mystic Spiral, the band fronted by Trent Lane, the brother of Daria’s best friend Jane. They’re only pressing 500 (on yellow vinyl!) but you can listen to your heart’s content below.
