Almost a year ago, Leonard Cohen debuted a new song called “I’ve Got a Little Secret” at a concert in Dublin. Well, the secret’s out: Leonard Cohen turns 80 years old on September 21, and, according to Rolling Stone, he’ll celebrate the occasion with a new album titled Popular Problems.

Though not officially confirmed, news of the release surfaced at the recent, artist-approved Leonard Cohen Event 2014, also in Dublin. Plus, Amazon France and Amazon Germany both list a release date of September 22. Popular Problems would be the follow-up to 2012′s Old Ideas.

Jarkko Arjatsalo, the webmaster for Cohen’s official website, announced the new album in an introduction to an event booklet, and he confirmed the details to RS, saying they came “directly from Leonard.”

In the booklet intro, Arjatsalo wrote: “Leonard has worked hard on his next studio album of entirely new songs. He asked me to let you know that Popular Problems will be out at the end of September, shortly after his 80th birthday.”

Don’t count on seeing Cohen perform the new songs live, however. Arjatsalo wrote in a fan forum: “There are no tour plans! We are now looking forward to a great new studio album.”

For what it’s worth, one Dutch seller lists Popular Problems as a two-disc vinyl release. No other details are available just yet.

Below, listen to “I’ve Got a Little Secret,” which may or may not appear on the album.
