Greetings! Top of the Morning is your daily AM news round-up. We paid attention overnight and gathered relevant tidbits to share over that first cup of coffee.

Yesterday, Modest Mouse kicked off their inaugural Instagram account by announcing that new music is on its way. Or at least, we think that’s what they did. The shot was simply a picture of a record with the track title “Lampshades on Fire” written across the front. Pitchfork pointed out that the group has actually been playing the song during live performances for a while now and we know that the group is sitting on a stockpile of work from sessions with Big Boi. We have to ask the question; is a new Modest Mouse album on its way? If so, it would be the first we’ve seen since 2009′s No One’s First and You’re Next.

Now, we don’t have royalty here in the United States, but we do have Beyoncé and Jay Z. So what do we do when royalty visits? We introduce them to America’s most powerful couple. (Sorry, Barack and Michelle.) Last night Prince William and Princess Kate, during their first to New York City, made their way to the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn for the Nets game. There, they were presented, courtside, to Bey and Jay. Hands were shaken. Pleasantries were exchanged. And peace ruled throughout the land. (Where do you think they went to dinner afterward? Was it Buttermilk Channel?)

Ariana Grande adopted a rescue dog right after locking in those Grammy nominations last Friday. Her new pup is named Cinnamon.

And from the looks of it, Cinnamon is adjusting well to her new life of celebrity and Instagram stardom:

Although a rumored tracklist for the new Kendrick Lamar album is circulating, we’re weary about getting too excited since all the hubbub over the fake Beyoncé tracklist that stormed the internet and caused a commotion last month. While this new picture does contain “King Kunta,” the track that made Rosenberg lose his mind, we wouldn’t place any bets just yet. Check out this alleged tracklist over on AllHipHop.

While Seth Rogen was out doing promo for his new movie about North Korea, The Interview, he let it slip that he’s heard the new Kanye West album. More or less. According to Rolling Stone:

Shortly after his and James Franco’s parody of the rapper’s “Bound 2″ video – “Bound 3,” in which the actor played the role of topless Kim Kardashian – West cornered Rogen at a New York hotel and invited him to his limo van for a listening session with a twist. “There’s no lyrics, only beats,” Rogen said. “So he raps the whole album, and after each song, he stops it, like, ‘So what do you think?’ We were in the van for two hours!”

The moral of this story is, when Kanye asks you to get in his van, you say no.

Consequence of Sound has reported that Morrissey is already working on the follow-up to World Peace is None of Your Business because it would be really difficult for us to get through another year without a pretentiously named album, or a constant stream of headlines about how insufferable the singer has grown. He hopes to return to the recording studio this upcoming February. Morrissey also added additional tour dates, purchase at your own risk. In other news, his former bandmate Johnny Marr has to cancel the rest of his tour dates through December due to “serious family illness.”

If you were wondering what to get Taylor Swift for her 25th birthday this weekend, don’t worry she’s already asked for a present.

Which is such a shame because we were going to get her a replica of A$AP Ferg’s prayer hands grill.

Bling bling !!! Pray 4 me #fergforever
