Kanye West has reversed the British invasion this week, though it’s not yet clear he has received a Beatles-sized welcome. At yesterday’s Brit Awards, West performed a new song called “All Day,” which as Pitchfork reports features guest appearances by Theophilus London and Allan Kingdom along with production by French Montana and Velous. What’s more, both of the leading brothers from Oasis, whom a wag might call the Biggest. British-est. Band. Ever., have weighed in to mock West recently. And today at 2 p.m. EST, West will sit down with BBC Radio 1 presenter (and soon-to-be Apple employee) Zane Lowe, who hosted a particularly intense West interview the last time the two met.
Check out “All Day” below, watch for the BBC Radio 1 interview here, and if you’re curious, Oasis’s Noel Gallagher recently told Stereogum, “I’m aware of our mate Kanye being a bit of a buffoon at one of them [awards shows], yeah. Didn’t he say Beck should ‘respect artistry’ and pass the award on to Beyoncé?… Well, No. 1, somebody should buy that boy a dictionary. And he needs to look up the fucking term ‘artistry’ and then see if it reminds him, in any way, of Beyoncé.” Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher tweeted, “Kanye West. Utter Shit,” followed by “…And you’re a million miles away from College Dropout. That’s artistry.” Someone please double-check my translation of British English, but if you’re reading this out loud, I believe it’s pronounced “shite.”
