Another concert tragedy has struck, this time at a K-pop performance outside Seoul, South Korea. At least 16 people died at the show in nearby Seongnam, as the Associated Press reports (via Pitchfork).

The attendees had been standing on a ventilated grate, according to the AP. When the grate collapsed, they fell 20 meters, or more than 21 yards. An unnamed local officially reportedly said 11 other concertgoers suffered serious injuries.

The group onstage at the time of the accident was the superstar K-pop act 4Minute (see The Case for the Mini Album).

The event was reportedly part of a local festival. This year’s festival season brought more than its share of sadness in other countries, as well.
