The Dude becalms. Though it might seem like a possible subject for Clickhole, actor Jeff Bridges has lent spoken-word performances to a double album of ambient music intended for sleep listening, as The Wall Street Journal reports (via FACT).

Jeff Bridges Sleeping Tapes, which you can stream below, pairs the Big Lebowski and True Grit star with composer Keefus Ciancia, known for work on True Detective and Nashville. “While working on the Sleeping Tapes album we put in some long hours,” Bridges said. “Listening back to our day’s works, I’d often drift off. I’d wake up and smile saying, ‘This stuff works.’”

The album is available through the new Dreaming with Jeff website as a pay-what-you-want download, plus cassette and vinyl. Bridges has been the national spokesperson for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign since 2010, and the nonprofit’s hunger-fighting program will receive all proceeds from the release.

A snippet from Sleeping Tapes will air during the Super Bowl as part of a commercial for SquareSpace, which teamed with Bridges on the Dreaming With Jeff site.

Bridges’s past musical efforts include a couple of folk-leaning albums, and he won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2009 for his portrayal of a down-on-his-luck country singer in Crazy Heart.
