Roz and the Rice Cakes’ full-length Need to Feed, out June 24 on Team Love, begins with the woozy, reverb-heavy “The Birds,” with Roz Raskin’s voice reminiscent of Warpaint as she asks, “What is real/ What is lies?” over warped electronics. But at other points throughout the album, there are hints of Gwen Stefani (the title track), Slow Club (“Follow Suit”) and the Dum Dum Girls (“Hay Fever”). It’s an eclectic collection that has no problem using glitchy sound effects in one song, then vibraphones in the next, and delicate piano after that.
