At the risk of raising cries of “too soon!”, GWAR’s surviving members have launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund the Virginia-based GWARbar frontman Dave “Oderus Urungus” Brockie had mentioned before his sudden death last March. According to the band’s mission statement, the theme restaurant will feature a “gourmet junk food” menu by longtime chef Michael Derks (a.k.a. guitarist BalSac the Jaws ‘o Death), a beer garden (or “GWARden”), a smoke house (for their “world famous GWAR-B-Q”) and “a GWAR sized meat grinder to make creative new takes on hot dogs and freshly ground hamburgers.” Perks range from a $10 “plea for leniency … in the hopes that your overlords spare your miserable life” to such big ticket items as a Hall of Shame mention on the restaurant’s wall ($250), a Cooking Class With BalSac ($750), and a private party once the place opens ($10,000).

“We have found the perfect building in Richmond’s historic Jackson Ward,” the group writes on their campaign page, “but we need your help to transform it into a fantasy land of food and beverage that we know it can be.”
