Earlier this year Flying Lotus released his fifth album You’re Dead!, which featured Kendrick Lamar on the single “Never Catch Me.” At the time, Steven Ellison confirmed that they had also worked together on another song, but the verse wouldn’t be released due to “political reasons.” However, Ellison decided to debut it during his performance at North Park Theatre in San Diego. Apparently, he and Lamar originally intended for the verse to be included in the track “Eyes Above.”

Meanwhile, Lamar is gearing for his gig on Saturday Night Live this weekend when Woody Harrelson will host.

Given that Lamar’s 10-year-old brother now has a copy of the follow-up to good kid, m.A.A.d city, is it possible that Lamar will use SNL as a platform to launch a release date announcement?
