For those of us who live in Brooklyn, commuting on the L train tends to be a fairly difficult experience. This morning, Colin Meloy decided to add his two cents to the ruckus by busking in front of the notoriously overcrowded Bedford Avenue stop. The singer wasn’t looking for change though, he did have a specific purpose in mind.

It turns out that The Decemberists will be releasing a new album titled What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World; their follow-up to The King is Dead, which was released in 2011. The band also started a brand spanking new Instagram account to show you the cover art:

Meloy performed “The Engine Driver,” off Picaresque and a new song called “Make You Better”; which he has actually been performing onstage since January.

There’s no release date or tracklist for the album just yet, but here’s some footage of Meloy singing his little heart out on the streets of BK.
