Death Grips‘ art-rap death trip continues. This summer, the mercurial Sacramento trio officially called it quits shortly after releasing the first half of a planned double-album called the powers that b. More recently, they announced they’d finished rest of the album, and now they’ve shared “New Sensation,” from the powers that b‘s second disc, titled jenny death.

Musically, it’s the familiar all-out Death Grips assault, with MC Ride’s blurry yet bellicose bark presiding. The song comes with a self-directed video, where we see the frontman lip-syncing amid trippy imagery from within a Jumbotron that has crashed to the floor of a basketball arena. Before booming references to Northern California, “Mean Mr. Mustard” and Dublin skinheads comes a whispery midsection that mentions an “enigmatic onion.” It doesn’t take long before we get a shout of “bitch,” but there’s something to be said here about layers.

Speaking of layers, no word on any possible involvement of Robert Pattinson on this one — or, for that matter, of Björk. Nor, Death Grips still being Death Grips, have they announced release dates for the powers that b, but you can watch the video below, and scroll down for the songs’ lyrics — as well as, via their Thirdworlds label imprint site, the cover art for the new double album.

“Inanimate Sensation”
