Dark alleys and projections of light. Those are the key visual elements of David Bowie‘s video for “Sue (Or in a Season of Light),” a new song from the shape-shifting music legend’s career-spanning Nothing Has Changed compilation, which is due via Columbia/Legacy. The haunting song melds Bowie’s operatic crooning with free-jazz skronk, and the shadowy visuals project images of the singer and the horn players onto the alley walls, along with the song’s lyrics. Tom Hingston and Jimmy King directed. “Sue,” recorded with Tony Visconti and the Maria Schneider Orchestra, will also be the A-side of a Record Store Day Back to Black Friday single backed with arty demo “‘Tis a Pity She Was a Whore.” Bowie sings here, “Oh, folly, Sue.” Not exactly, but ’tis always the season.
