Greetings! Top of the Morning is your daily AM news round-up. We paid attention over the weekend and gathered relevant tidbits to share over that first cup of coffee.

In a statement on their Facebook page, Green Day announced that their guitarist Jason White had undergone treatment for tonsil cancer and was expected to make a full recovery.

We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread. Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery.

Please join us in sending him love and positive healing vibes during this time.

This year, the band was included in the list of nominees for the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong also eluded to an upcoming album on Instagram.

Over the weekend, Chris Brown and his longtime on-off girlfriend Karrueche Tran went through another messy break-up that played out on their social media accounts. Initially Tran posted a message on her Instagram that stated, “I refuse to be repeatedly mistreated especially by someone who claims to love me. That’s not love. And if that’s what you define as love then I don’t want it. Yes, I have not been so smart before in the past but I made a promise to be a better and stronger woman and I’m keeping that promise. If you can’t love me the right way, then don’t love me at all.” The account has since been deleted, although Tran claims that is not her doing:

Brown responded, in a now deleted message, by saying, “That ride or die act that we were fooling the world with obviously ain’t working. I was locked up for damn near 4 months and only got 1 visit from you while u was hosting parties and taking secret trips to Toronto, going on dates with Drake!” Then, very early this morning, the singer issued another statement apologizing to Tran.

According to TMZ, Drake denies any involvement in the break-up.

Back in October, Timbaland revealed a quick snippet of a new song featuring Tink and André 3000. In a full preview where he sings along to the entire track, Timbaland has now disclosed that the song is called “UFO.” It’s still unclear whether it will appear on the producer’s upcoming album Opera Noir, as Timbaland claimed the it would only feature Cee-Lo and a mysterious artist named V.

Ghostface Killah’s new album 36 Seasons will drop tomorrow, but according to FACT in a recent Reddit AMA, the rapper discussed DOOMStarks – the collaborative album that he’s been working on with DOOM for the past seven years. Ghostface claims that it will be released in 2015, although he did not specify an exact release date, and he also took the time to clarify that A Better Tomorrow was RZA’s project and he likes Action Bronson.

Do you ever find yourself thinking, “Hm. I wonder what Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear likes to eat when he’s not out on tour?” Well, not to worry. Now there’s an answer and apparently in involves a lot of courses. The musician took some time over the last two years to co-author a cookbook called Twenty Dinners with Ithai Schori. The description for Twenty Dinners is pretty thorough:

When he’s on tour with his band Grizzly Bear, the thing Chris Taylor misses most about home is the kitchen and the company. With his friend Ithai Schori, the two are constantly cooking dinner parties for four to forty, using skills Chris learned from his mom and techniques Ithai picked up in high-end restaurants. Their food is full of smart techniques that make everything taste just a little better than you thought possible—like toasting nuts by swirling them in browned butter, or burning apples over a flame for a complex, charred applesauce—but their style is laid-back and unhurried. This is about cooking not just for but with your friends, and so the authors enlisted their favorite pastry chef, mixologist, sommelier, and baristas to write detailed material on wine, desserts, stocking a home bar, and mixing drinks, and buying and brewing fantastic coffee. Through more than 100 seasonally-arranged recipes and gorgeous, evocative photographs of their parties, you fall into their world, where you have all day to put food on the table with your friends, and where there’s always time for another cocktail in a mason jar before dinner.

Unfortunately it’s not out until next April, but you could pre-order as a holiday gift.

If you’re in New York City today and you’re hankering to get your hands on the new Smashing Pumpkins’ album Monuments to an Elegy before it’s official release date tomorrow, than you should swing by Physical GraffiTea. (Yes, it is named after the Led Zeppelin album and yes, it’s located in the building on St. Marks.) According to SPIN, the band and Madame Zuzu’s will be hosting a pop-up shop there today from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. In addition to the album, “limited-edition Smashing Pumpkins mugs, christmas ornaments, lithographs and tea bundles” will also be available.

So what are you waiting for? Get on over there. Happy Monday.
