Boards of Canada Ready ‘Hi Scores’ Reissue on Heavyweight Vinyl

Warp have added one more record to its recent round of long overdue Boards of Canada reissues. A co-release with the reclusive duo’s original label Skam (a.k.a. the home of Autechre’s Gescom alias), Hi Scores is due out October 13 on heavyweight vinyl, re-recorded and remastered from the original DAT tapes with new spot-varnished artwork, a special 12” poster and some braille stickers to bring us all back to Skam’s early days. And no wonder why — the Manchester imprint turns 20 this year.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Hi Scores is more than just a stopgap release to satisfy Boards of Canada’s many old, salivating fans. (Myself included.) In many ways, it signaled the start of their signature Radiophonic sound, including such cult favorites as the title track and “Turquoise Hexagon Sun.” Stream the former down below to hear what I mean…
