Black Flag Founder Settles Lawsuit With Former Bandmates

Greg Ginn’s bitter lawsuit against his former Black Flag bandmates has ended with an out-of-court settlement. The SST founder had sued Keith Morris, Dez Cadena, Chuck Dukowski and Bill Stevenson for playing the group’s songs under the name FLAG and essentially remixing its iconic Raymond Pettibon logo.

“FLAG gets to be FLAG,” Ginn’s lawyer, Evan Cohen, explained in a statement, “and Black Flag as it is presently known continues to be Black Flag.” Cohen’s client also retained his ownership of the band’s recordings, name and one of the most cliched punk tattoos of all time.
