The Black Dynamite TV series immediately carved out a musical reputation for itself with original work by Adriane Younge, who has produced albums in recent years by Ghostface Killah and the Delfonics. A caricature of young Michael Jackson appeared on the show’s first episode for Cartoon Network’s late-night Adult Swim programming block; Chance the Rapper and Erykah Badu were guests last year, as Bob Marley and his wife Rita Marley, respectively. Now the show is about to unveil its first-full fledged musical episode. With characteristic irreverence, it’s about police brutality. Chance and Badu return, joined by Tyler, the Creator, who plays a very Odd Future sort of poodle.

Wondering Sound has published quite a bit about the debate over police in the past year. Here’s Victor “Kool A.D.” Vazquez on Police Brutality in America. Last summer, we argued that Killer Mike’s Michael Brown Response Shows How Rap Is Still Misunderstood. In a more recent development, Kanye West has acknowledged the “Black Lives Matter” protests.

The episode will premiere Saturday, January 10. Watch the trailer below.
