Sources close to Warner Bros.’s heavily rumored Elvis Presley biopic have told TheWrap that Baz Luhrmann is considering a shot at its director’s chair. If an agreement is reached, Luhrmann’s wife (Oscar winner Catherine Martin) will reportedly take over as the project’s costume designer; Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey, Saving Mr. Banks, the ill-fated Terra Nova) was already named as its screenwriter. Warner Bros. also secured the much-needed rights to Presley’s music, which would be rife for the Technicolor treatment Luhrmann applied to Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet and his critically panned yet incredibly successful — as in $351 million worldwide — adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
