Greetings! Top of the Morning is your daily AM news round-up. We paid attention overnight and gathered relevant tidbits to share over that first cup of coffee.
It was supposed to be a day of giving thanks, but certain members of Kiss were upset by the way Macy’s handled their Thanksgiving Day Parade, especially frontman Paul Stanley.
— Paul Stanley (@PaulStanleyLive) November 28, 2014
While Stanley hasn’t offered up any details, Billboard speculated that his anger might have something to do with lack of camera time. Rolling Stone also noted that the performance was clearly lip-synched without any of the trademark fanfare from Gene Simmons, but a rep for Macy’s denied that they put any restrictions on the group.
Over the weekend, Lil Wayne threw a Sweet 16 Party for his daughter Reginae Carter, and he had some special guests swing by to entertain the party-goers.
In addition to a performance from Nicki Minaj, Reginae also received a BMW from her father and a Ferrari from her mother and stepfather.
The full-length Chanel short starring Pharrell and Cara Delevingne has arrived. The two star as hotel workers, whose fantasy characters climb out of paintings at night to dance and sing their new duet “CC the World.” Gabrielle Chaplin also stars as Coco Chanel, who admires Pharrell’s bellhop jacket.
Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky was handpicked by the Ferragamo’s creative director Massimiliano Giornetti to star in a new campaign called “A Man’s Story.” The shorts are directed Francesco Carrozzini and feature the rapper wearing designs from Ferragamo’s summer/spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection.
Yesterday, rumors flew that Skrillex had decided to shell out approximately $5 million dollars for Wu-Tang Clan’s Once Upon a Time in Shaolin — the album that they secretly recorded and refuse to distribute commercially, only one copy exists. However, Skrillex reps confirmed to the folks over at FADER that this purchase did not take place. If you don’t have $5 million readily available, you can listen to the group’s new album A Better Tomorrow, which was just released today.
Jean Grae now has a cooking column over at Jezebel and it is downright delightful. Her first article tackles Thanksgiving leftovers. Grae says, “The Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwich is my favorite of all the leftover options known. It’s kind of like making the same plate, but it’s not, because fuck you, a great sandwich is a glorious thing. Everything goes on this. The turkey, the cranberries, the stuffing. Leave no leftover untouched.” She also suggests using apple cider vinegar to “wake up” your sandwich, and recommends wrapping it in wax paper to contain its size. As Grae plainly states, “The idea is to not be monotonous. Also, not to let food go to waste. Fry the mac and cheese by dipping cuts of it into some beaten egg and panko. I am not judging you. No one is judging you. Cut turkey and use it in an omelet. Fantastic. You’re so lean. Good job.”
Now let’s watch Mary J. Blige on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Happy Tuesday.
