One week from today, the world will begin to hear Aphex Twin‘s first album in 13 years. Richard D. James has announced a series of listening parties for Syro, the follow-up to 2001′s Drukqs. The parties kick off next Friday in Paris and London and carry over into a handful of other cities in North America and Europe. The ticket lottery, available here, starts on August 31 at 7 a.m. EST.

Syro is due out on September 23 via Warp. Aphex Twin has preceded the release by flying a blimp with his logo on it, by teasing the track list over the Deep Web and issued a brain-scrambling press release describing himself as an “electronic fartist.” He has said he expects to release more music to follow Syro, and he has aired a dispute with Kanye West.
