On their latest, self-titled album, Birmingham Alabama’s Dirty Lungs whip across the rock ‘n’ roll spectrum. Opener “I Suck in Bed” is a rip-roaring garage rock rager with screaming, serrated riffs and a divebombing guitar that recalls Magazine’s menacing “Shot By Both Sides.” But from there, they glide into the stoned ’60s psych of “All My Cats” and the weird, eerie “Dead in a Graveyard.” A testament to founding members Ra-Jaan Parmley and Carson Mitchell’s encyclopedic knowledge of ’60s pop, Dirty Lungs is a trippy, terrific musical tour.
